The real scoop on the star's rock bottom!
“Our family needs help”
Aside from talking about the Camp Rock star’s struggles with fame and the pressures that come with it, Dianna also opens up about her own issues in the spotlight. She describes the immense pressure she felt to be a perfect mother, manager, wife, and woman during her daughter’s rise to fame. She talks in detail about the overwhelming guilt she felt about the things that Demi and her sisters were dealing with at such a young age.
”I can no longer ignore that our family needs help, especially Demi, who is rail thin, exhausted, and in a very dark place. This latest crisis means that all of our previous attempts to help her—cutting back on her schedule, hiring life coaches, pep talks, and punishments—were nothing more than Band-Aids on a very serious wound. Now, it’s time for surgery. But as the doubts and questions about what we can do begin to multiply, I start wailing like a baby.”
The book ― for which Demi provided the foreword ― also promises to explore Dianna’s time in rehab, substance abuse issues, and her own eating disorder which she says she struggled with just like her famous daughter.
Luckily, the star seems to be in a much better place these days. Demi has overcome her demons and is living life to the fullest. In a new cover-story interview with InStyle, Lovato talks about gaining her independence, learning about love, and taking care of herself while balancing stardom ― and she seems to be doing a good job of it of late.
