Case-in-point, the star spoke to Vogue for a rare tell-all profile and opened up about her views on fame, TV, and perceptions of her famous family.
“It’s almost, like, trendy to hate on my family,” she says. “It’s not so much that people actually believe that we suck, but it became a thing: If you hate on us, it’s cool or something,” she told the interviewer ― and that image is clearly something from which she wants distance.
The profile shows a star who has never truly bought into the “star lifestyle.” While she is certainly grateful for (and aware of) the opportunities her famous last name has provided, she appears to have no interest in being a part of the Kardashian machine any longer.
Perhaps Off-White designer Virgil Abloh puts it best in his analysis of the star:
“She exemplifies exactly what inspired me to design women’s clothes: She’s independent, strong, self-assured. It comes from a place of self-confidence, but with no air of arrogance, which is rare. […] In 30 years, I wouldn’t be surprised if people have forgotten that she was one of the top models of the time and know her for something else.”
And Kendall clearly wants to be known for something other than her time on E!
With all that in mind, the news that she has told her famous momager that she wants to cut ties with KUWTK seems to hold some weight. Though, naturally, it’s a bummer for avid fans of the young model.
Don’t fret, though, we’re sure to see more of Kendall in the days to come whether the rumors prove true or not!
