Someone wants to get hitched... QUICK!
Forget babies. Mama June Shannon has marriage on the brain.
The Here Comes Honey Boo Boo alum has been happily dating construction company owner Geno Doak for almost a year. With her ex, Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson, already moved on to a new wife and one of her daughters, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, married to her baby daddy, it’s no surprise that all the 38-year-old reality star can think about these days is a wedding of her own.
In a new teaser for the upcoming second season of WE tv’s From Not to Hot, the mom of four opens up about her future her plans to walk down the aisle. While she admittedly wants to tie the knot with her new boyfriend, it looks like Geno isn’t really on board with the whole idea of marriage.

Here Comes the Bride
The Here Comes Honey Boo Boo alum has been dating Georgia-based handyman Geno Doak for almost a year. As their romance continues to heat up, it looks like Mama June has plans to make things official with her new beau.
In a nine-minute sneak peek of an upcoming episode from the second season of WE tv’s Mama June: From Not to Hot, the 38-year-old reality star opens up about her future plans to walk down the aisle. While picking up a ball gown for a mother-daughter pageant, the couple stumbles upon a rack of glitzy wedding dresses. Though Mama June couldn’t help but to peruse the racks for inspiration, Geno seems less than thrilled with the idea of getting hitched soon.
“Seeing wedding dresses — it’s like, ‘I want to wear one of those one day. And it’s kind of crazy for me to say that because I’ve never said that before,” Mama June admits in a separate confessional. “I think Geno wants to be married to me, but I think he’s scared because his first married failed.”
She tells Geno, “I know you’re just teasing, but you know you want to lock this body down and put a ring on it,”
However, the construction company owner has different ideas. “I mean, if you insist on getting married, I feel like we’re close enough that I can walk you and give you away,” he jokes.
Popping the Question
In another preview for Mama June: From Not to Hot, the former TLC star takes things up a notch by actually popping the question herself. While preparing for daughter Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon‘s Las Vegas nuptials with baby daddy Josh Efird, Mama June — clad in a burgundy bridesmaid dress — can be seen making an emotional plea to her man.
“I want to marry you right here,” she tells Geno when they’re alone in the chapel.
The cameras don’t show the beau’s initial reaction, though footage from later on in the ceremony suggests that Geno wasn’t all that thrilled with the impromptu proposal.
As Pumpkin and Josh get ready to exchange vows, Mama June dramatically interrupts the officiant and proclaims that she wants to tie the knot on the spot.
“I would like to get married,” she says to her man.
Unfortunately, Geno doesn’t have the reaction she was hoping for as he stomps off set. Leaving Mama June at the altar, he can be heard ranting about how he didn’t want to be pressured into marriage off-screen.
“I’m out!” he tells producers. “She knows I don’t want to get married.”
As Celebuzz! previously reported, Mama June first got to know Geno, who runs local remodeling company called G & J Home Improvements, when she hired him to fix up her home in 2015. They were said to have briefly dated in 2015, though the construction guru denied knowing Mama June at the time.
The couple seemingly rekindled their romance last year when June failed to find a man on the first season of her reality series. In July 2017, Geno shared a cryptic photo on his Facebook suggesting he was back with reality TV matriarch. “Once you start loving someone its hard to stop,” the picture’s caption read.
He also wrote in a status update that same month, “Roses are red , you’ve got big thighs , I sucks at poems, butterflies.” The short and sweet prose was liked by Mama June’s personal Facebook account.
If that wasn’t enough evidence to suggest that something was going on between the two, they were also spotted looking positively smitten when they arrived on the same plane at the Los Angeles International Airport this January. Showing off her slimmer figure in an Under Armour top and workout leggings, June was seen happily chatting with the paparazzi while her boyfriend followed behind.
Later, in photos obtained by the Daily Mail, Geno was snapped helping his girlfriend with her luggage as they loaded up an awaiting cab together.
“[My boyfriend] came into our life when we actually needed someone to say, ‘OK, all men aren’t bad,’” Mama June told Us Weekly earlier this year, explaining her family gave their seal of approval when they met him. “It’s been a long time. I mean, it’s been a good, probably, 15 years since I’ve been happy. It’s a lot different. He’s one-of-a-kind.”
Geno, a divorced dad with an adult son and two teenage daughters, was admittedly worried that people would think he was dating June “just for money” and fame. However, according to her, “that’s not the case.”
“He just doesn’t watch reality TV. I mean, you know, he does now watch the show, but he doesn’t care two cents less about the cameras,” she said, adding that “kids knew, but he didn’t” about her life as a reality TV star. “He makes very good money. He does remodeling and construction work, so he makes good money himself.”
At the time, Mama June added that she was considering marriage “for the first time in my life.”
