Everything is bigger (and more dramatic) in Texas
There has been quite a bit going on in Dallas lately! While some are celebrating a new addition to their family, it looks like one Real Housewives of Dallas star will be on the mend for quite a while after what is one of the weirdest — and most unfortunate —accidents in reality TV history. Poor D’Andra Simmons was involved in an accident that included an eggplant, a slicer, and eight stitches.
There has been quite a bit going on in Dallas, but you know what they say: Everything is bigger in Texas. While one Real Housewife is celebrating a new addition to her family — which you can see at the end of this article! — another one will be out of commission for quite some time.
D’Andra Simmons hasn’t exactly had the easiest week. The Real Housewives of Dallas star had to go to the emergency room to get stitches after an unfortunate kitchen related incident. It turns out that when the reality TV star was cutting up eggplant with a mandolin slicer, she accidentally cut up herself too!
The entrepreneur shared a photo on Twitter this past Saturday, June 2, showing blood on her right hand while she waiting to get stitches. She added two revealing and somewhat expected hashtags, stating there was “#bloodeverywhere” and it had been a “#stupidaccident.”
Out of Commission
Fans were quick to offer their support for the reality TV star.
“Those mandolins are so sharp and it’s easy to have an accident. I threw mine out after I cut myself,” one fan penned. “Feel better soon lovely and take good care.”
“Sending you love and hugs and get well prayers!” wrote another follower.
She updated her fans on Twitter the Monday, June 4, after she returned home, showing a picture of her hand wrapped up in a bright pink bandage.
“I received eight stitches and part of my nail bed was removed. I cut off the tip of my finger, and it is extremely painful,” she wrote online. “Thanks for the [love].”
And because this is the Real Housewives, there obviously had to be a little more drama than just, you know, going to the ER and getting emergency stitches. D’Andra also wrote, “No, it wasn’t a paper cut, as one of my cast members alluded to in a post,” with a frowning face tacked on for good measure.
So just which cast mate was supposedly talking smack about D’Andra’s unexpected injury? Why, none other than her friend Kameron Westcott.
And That’s A Wrap!
After D’Andra first sent out the tweet on Saturday letting everyone know about her injury, Kameron tweeted, “’Will I get a scar on my thumb from a paper cut?’ #MyBlondeWife #KamQuotes #RHOD”
Naturally, D’Andra assumed this was a dig on her and her new injury, but Kameron was quick to clarify that it has actually been written way back in 2013. In a case of pretty awful timing, she had posted it on Twitter before hearing about the 49-year-old’s hand being sliced open.
“Bad timing [and] was not meant to be hurtful!” Kameron tweeted. “I did comment wishing her well yesterday!! Apologies for any miscommunication [,] hope you heal quickly.”
In what we are now referring to as the shortest lived Real Housewives drama of all time, D’Andra was happy to accept her co-star’s apology.
“Thanks @KamWestcott for posting this! I appreciate it very much!” D’Andra replied. “Hope your Anniversary trip is super fun!”
Well, that wrapped up much easier than we thought it would, especially for D’Andra. The reality TV star joined the cast in its second season, and has had plenty of drama since. When she first joined, she knew every cast member other than Brandi Redmond, which caused some friction between the two.
““I feel like we are at different places in our life and I think that’s probably what the acrimony you’re seeing is. We are not understanding each other because we really didn’t spend a lot of time to get to know each other,” D’Andra explained. “She’s the only cast member on the show that I didn’t know. Every other person I was friends with.”
While this was a tough injury for D’Andra to face, it hasn’t all been doom and gloom in Dallas. In fact, Brandi herself has had some very exciting news, having recently opened up about adopting a son.
