A lot of work means a lot of results
“Oh Man. Hate This.”
Relatable as ever, Shannon has also continuously been open about her general dislike for exercise.
By September, she had lost a total of 20 pounds. She kicked on 2018 with a totally fresh start, having decided to officially file for divorce from her husband of 17 years. She wasted no time jumping back on the fitness train, posting a video of herself walking with a friend on her Instagram story back in January. The caption read, “Happy New Year! Starting this nonsense again with my walking friend Tina.”
In the video, she can be heard saying, “Oh man. Hate this.”
You and me both, Shannon.
She’s also seriously credited her bff and the fitness queen of the OC herself, Tamra Judge for her help and constant support, saying that she’s “always there, cheering me on.”
“I am so grateful for my friend Tamra. She’s such a supporter of me and she realizes you have ups and downs. I would go through a period where I would lose a ton of weight, and then we’d take a trip to Iceland and there’d be drinking and […] so she’s been very supportive through my ups and downs because she cares about me and she definetly wants me to loose weight,” Shannon told the Daily Dish.
“It’s been really nice to have that support because whether I gain it back or I don’t, she’s my friend no matter what.”
Real, like, for Real
Based on her own experiences as a suddenly single mom who was working on her weight, Shannon also released a new low calorie meal delivery service with the hopes to help others in her situation. The mother of three debuted a new line of ready to eat meals in April, which she credited in part to her split.
“As a single mom, a lot of my friends say they go through this every night. We say, ‘Oh, if there was just an easy, healthy option for us to eat for dinner tonight,’” she said about her newest project.
The line is called Real for Real Cuisine, and features three different seafood based options that are delivered within two days and can be reheated in the over or microwave.
“We basically took my recipes and then tweaked them a little bit, because the food has to be frozen,” she said. “But we are only using the freshest ingredients and that’s really important to me.”
Each meal is about 450 calories or less, making it healthy too. The cooking advocate hopes this will be easier to allow for balance in others lives.
“What I’ve come to realize is that everyone wants to be healthy, but you can drive yourself crazy trying to be healthy all the time,” she said. “I believe that if you create a healthy balance, so if you make a few smart choices during the week, you can have that cocktail on the weekend, or you can go out to dinner and eat whatever you want in a restaurant.”
Shannon has long dreamed of having her own restaurant, but with her personal struggles, she had hit a snag in the road.
“I am ready to go and we are still looking for a location,” she said. “But since I’m going through a divorce, the financial commitment that was being made by my husband is no longer there. We’ll see what happens when we find the right location.”
An Affair to Remember
Shannon is still dealing with divorce proceedings, which began back in December. Back in 2010, it was revealed that David had an affair.
“I caught him whispering to this person on the phone,” Shannon said during the tenth season of the Real Housewives of Orange County. “I knew something was wrong I was told I was crazy. I saw all the hotel receipts. I asked him one last time, ‘Are you having an affair?’ He said, ‘Yes.’”
At the time, she was committed to doing what she could to keep her family together. The pair went through therapy, going so far as holding a vow renewal ceremony at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe where they had taken their original walk down the aisle. However, David continued to be distant. Always a huge fitness advocate, David became obsessed with exercise, This, along with Shannon’s weight gain, made her feel a “devastating” distance between them.
“It’s taken him away from his family,” Shannon confessed. “Because his exercise schedule is so rigorous now, both the kids and I don’t see him. He works out before work, comes home and eats with us, and then goes and works out until he goes to bed.”
“It’s become an obsession with him,” she continued. “The exercise is David’s no. 1 priority now.”
