Noah Cyrus is in a new chapter!
When the 22-year-old sat down with Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1 to discuss her new album, Noah also got real about addiction and mental health. The youngest child of Billy Ray Cyrus opened up about how therapy helped her to get over her drug problem.
According to Noah, this album was born out of a transitional phase. She explains it “came about at a time where I had a lot of change in my life.”
One reason for this difficult period was her decision to stop using drugs.
“In the end of December of 2020 is when I decided to try and kick my addiction to downers, prescription pills, painkillers, Xanax,” says Noah. “That was kind of my drug of choice. And I was completely wrapped inside of that drug.”
Things were able to change for her when she “just broke down and asked for help.”
Noah recalls, “Where for so long, I had been denying, denying, denying, and pushing away, where I finally just said, ‘I cannot lie to you anymore.’”
The young musician relied on professional care to get better.
“I called my therapist. I called psychiatrist,” she shares. “And I think there was a lot of confusion that a lot of things clicked for them where a lot of stories hadn’t made sense in the past.”
Being open about the problem allowed Noah to get the help that she needed.
“A lot of things were clicking and I got the help that I needed and also that I deserve and that every person with addiction or mental health deserves,” she explained.

Britney Spears recently opened up about her experiences during her conservatorship in a video that was posted on her fan forum exhale.breatheheavy.com.
“I am here honestly just to open up to others and try to shed light on whether anyone has ever been through difficulties,” Britney shared.“Honestly, I haven’t shared this openly either because I’ve always been afraid of judgment and definitely the embarrassment of the whole period and skepticism and cynical people.”
Britney explained that she was in her conservatorship for about 15 years, beginning when she was 25. She said that her friends were trying to reach out to her at that time, but because of her father she was unable to understand what was happening. Britney then revealed that she worked with her father in order to obtain medication for herself, but it is unclear if she was fully aware of the gravity of the situation.
“I literally spoke with a British accent to a doctor to prescribe my medication and a little later there was an exchange team at my house,” the pop star explained. “ I remember that my mother’s best friend and my two friends had a slumber party the night before they held me on a stretcher and, again, none of that made sense.”
